Opening Meeting

Selected Issues raised by the Attendees

Dr. Mortaheb: system integrators need to be supported by macro policies.

Dr. Ghofrani: Economical and social systems should be addressed due to complications of their environmental issues such as organizational reliability.

General Farahi: in recent years, we have taken three parallel paths, innovation maturity, product realization system and innovation system, in Iranian Space Agency. All paths were taken in nuclear and network frame. They, however, faced issues such as managing tacit knowledge, scale problems which led to competitiveness issues and unfavorable circumstances risen from recession.

Dr. Hamedi: MAPNA and other integrators have a complicated value network. In these networks, engineering costs only account for a small part; 6-7 percent. Yet, these costs can have a great impact on other costs.  Integration has been our concern for over 21 years; since starting Shazand Power Plant. We have since changed our structure 5 rounds, to better face integration complications. Our challenge in MAPNA, is how to change structure to confront or avoid complications.

Mr. Sadraei: concerns about production in gas and oil industry, has previously prevented us from learning about technology management. In order to be more practical, CRiTIMiX structure needs to be industry-oriented. Industrial experts must be given seats as Ph.D. students at CRiTIMiX to maintain a lasting relationship with industries, he contended.

Dr. Mazaheri: He volunteered to run interdisciplinary projects between CRiTIMiX and Sharif Aerospace Faculty. He also stressed the importance of giving admission to highly qualified students. He also criticized research and innovation system in Oil Ministry, he believed the system had not met its visions.

Dr. Manteghi: we need to be industry-oriented.  To maintain a lasting relationship, CRiTIMiX should focus on current issues, organizations face and our previous experiences [to solve them]. In the next stage, CRiTIMiX can focus on the road map involving complex products. A combination of expertise and industry-orientation should be taken into consideration. Social issues cannot be ignored. Complicated projects need exceptional leaders.

Dr. Nayebi:

Human resource retention would be an issue for CRiTIMiX. Problem-orientation is in contrast with non-consulting. Government support is in contrast with Problem-orientation.

Dr. Farhadi: the main issue is collaboration. CRiTIMiX must accomplish things unattained by others.  CRiTIMiX must keep its agility.

Dr. Malaek: defining a problem cannot be outsourced. CRiTIMiX should define the problems itself. The main concern of industries is production and it does not hold a strategic view. CRiTIMiX has not earned nearly as much as football players.
